Most cats love the outdoors, but you can loose them easier. There are a few ways to keep them safe outdoors if they want to go out, or if you've lost your cat, there are things here that will hopefully make you find him/her.
Before They Go Out
You MUST have a collar on the cat before they go out, and believe it or not, they sorta like it! Buy a collar from your shop then ask the pet shop to put their name, your phone and address on it so if it ever gets lost, hopefully someone will see it and take it back home.
Micro Chips are also very important. You don't have to have them but you should. If the cat is lost they can take it to a vet and the vet will identify the cat and address and owner, and then take it back home. With my three cats, we all have micro chips and collars on them. It's best you have both because collars can sometimes come off cats.
Too worried about your cat going outside? Not a problem! Get a big cat cage and a cat door, so that the cat door is going into the cage where they can still be outdoors, but locked in a place so they are safe. Make sure they can't claw through it too. Put water, food, kitty litter, scratching post, a bed, cardboard boxes (so they can hide) and a few toys in there too.
Windows and Doors
Make sure to shut the door as quick as you can after you go out or come back in so the cat can't go out! Make sure all windows are shut, because she can jump out! Or, she can claw the wire and get through.
Lost My Cat!
Don't stress first. Ask your neighbours if they have seen her, ask your vet, animal shelters and any of your friends that live nearby. Then drive around alot and look at parks or local areas, ask shops or stands if they have seen her, ect;. If none have seen, then go home and make flyers. Put a picture of the kitten up, say if it's micro chipped or not, say your number and address. Right the color, the eyes, size, every little information about the kitten. Put heaps up around your area or even city if you can! Hopefully people will see these and get her back home.
When to let her out
You just think "I'll get a kitten, then let it out" NO! Make sure you have that little cage before and the cat needs to be sterilised because if it's not it can go out on the street and have babies and they can get sick, then the mum won't even bother about them. Let it out after a few months while being with you.
Hope this helped!
